10/18/19 Class
Jamie and Jeff showed up! Love it when they are there, especially together as I glean so much from their teaching. and demonstration of the moves.
All training started with thread the needle:
1- With opponent in a high chest side mount with hand blocking the hips, slight tilt to relieve pressure on the ribs. Upa with strong foot to support you then thread the needle. As you thread, punch the hand through the armpit to create even more space and allow you to drive through. Grab the leg and treat it as a double or single leg as you come to your knees and drive.
2- Opponent on top, with a choke. Grab the arm to stop the choke, trap the arm with the head to hold the arm as well as make room to upa. Upa but hold the arm to the ground to stop them from coming up into you.
3- Same as #2. When you come to be in the persons guard, grab the sleeve of the arm with the hand in the collar. Tie the elbow of the arm that holds the sleeve to the opponents thigh. Good posture. Stand up, one leg at a time maintaining posture with head held high. Do not relieve the pressure on the arm that is pinned to the ground until you are in a strong standing position. Apply pressure to the leg to open the opponents guard. If their guard falls apart, go around to side. If you have to force the guard open, push through and knee slice through to mount or side body.
Rolling:
Love rolling with Jamie. He allows you to work without giving you too much. Tried working my guard pass which he allowed me to do. Worked from side body. He allowed the pass around the legs to side but didnt get much going there. His admonition to relax is amazing to me. I dont feel like I am nervous but once he told me to relax, I did so much better! Able to stop a pass or two from him when relaxed. He finished me with a very nice darce choke from north/south.
