12/17/19 Kimura, Darst
Ron is back! Sweet.
- Like the "show me how good it is" approach.
Worked kimura. Need to definitely create a path to get to this. And be prepared not to get caught with this.
1- Work off the bump sweep. Good grab to the collar is key to setting this up for a good "push" in addition to the bump. This goes along with an advance in position being better than the submission.
2- If you dont get the bump sweep kimura. Have to get to side body to do this well. Get the arm, go to side, lock the legs, pull the kimura close to the body as this make this stronger.
3- If you dont get the kimura, go to the guillotine. Have to make space! When you set the guillotine, feed the lapel. Look away.
Worked more darst choke. I thought I had this more than I did. Was missing some key details.
1- Have to fall to side on this one as well. Have to have a good lock on the arm, the wrist isnt going to cut it unless you are looking for more of an arm crank.
2- Two on one the arm, really over exaggerate this so they dont see it coming.
3- Trap the arm with the head, tight guard so as not to lose them, control as you go to side, grip the bicep and close the head to the neck.
Excellent night of training. I was reminded that good execution is preceeded by good observation.
Said in negative tone: Cannot have good execution without good observation. I find myself getting caught up in the moment and not being as observant as I need to be. For example, relaxing and watching the persons body to see what is available to me while holding a guard. Easy to get tunnel visioned.
